Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom Review

Asus, with the ZenFone family, the world as a whole is attracting a lot of attention, especially among users in our country. It is also very effective to make phones with a capacity to satisfy the users especially with technical staff and to choose relatively competitive prices for the competitor models on the other hand. The model in our hand is a new member of the ZenFone family. The Zoom S has the same design details as the latest dual-camera phones. The two side-by-side lenses on the rear are undoubtedly the largest indicator of this, but not only that; The Zoom S, quite similar to the rear view of the Huawei P10, shows us this with antenna stripes. It should be said that the fingerprint sensor in the middle is reminiscent of the Huawei P9. The lines that soften and roll around the edges, also reminiscent of the Xiaomi Mi 6.

We do not say all these things to make phone calls; especially in the Zoom S. Lightweight sandy aluminum matte finish, rounded edges and 2.5D glass cut on the screen make the phone look good. The thickness of the phone is 7.9 mm. But with rounded edges, therefore, the phone is wrapped in a thinner profile. Let’s also say that the Zoom S is 170 grams in weight. In addition, silver and gold color options can be preferred. In the meantime, let’s also say that this model is showing double SIM card support. If you want to look around the phone right away, we see the sound and power buttons on the right side, the speaker on the bottom, the 3.5 mm headphone jack and the USB Type-C slot, and the SIM card and microSD card drawer on the left. Zoom S’s screen is 5.5 inches in size. The screen offers full HD resolution, with a brightness of 500 nits, giving a brilliant brightness. On the other hand, we have a very good color distribution. Of course, it is a big advantage that the screen is preferred since AMOLED panel. Those who love watching video and movies on the phone will be pleased with deep blacks and rich saturated colors.

On the other hand, it is also necessary to emphasize the fact that, in the point of view of normal use, the appearance of the views and the outward appearance of the display on the outdoors. In the meantime, as a screen saver, let’s look at our adding and operating system to our words of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In Zoom S we see Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as the operating system. According to the consensus, the Zoom S will receive Android 7.1.1 Nougat update soon. That’s why you do not have to worry about it. The interface is the same as ZenUI 3.0, as we were seeing in Asus’s previous ZenFone 3 phone models. The easy-to-use ZenUI interface offers a rich shortcut menu when you pull the screen from the top; and when you take it, it brings useful options. From here you can change the theme, access the application and window properties. There are handy applications that come built into the phone. These include the Laser Ruler, which measures distance using the phone’s camera, the Mobile Manager, where you can analyze the phone, and ZenFit, a fitness application. But it’s a pity that you can not get some of them off the phone.

The most important feature of Zoom S is undoubtedly the camera. The Zoom S, with its dual rear camera, uses a 12 MP + 12 MP dual lens. When one of these uses the Sony IMX362 sensor, it comes with a f / 1.7 diaphragm. The 25 mm main lens also has a 4-axis optical image stabilizer. The second camera on the back has a focal length of 59 mm and a f / 2.8 aperture. Together with this camera, there is no doubt that you can take a deep photo called Bokeh. However, you are waiting for a while when you take a photo in depth mode and then prepare a photo. On the Huawei P9, we do not encounter such a waiting period. On the other hand, there is a waiting period while the focal point changes after taking the photograph. Another feature brought by Zoom S’s cameras is the 2.3x optical zoom capability that gives the phone its name. The 2.3x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom make it possible to capture good images, especially in daytime, with contrast ratio and light balance. However, as the light rate drops, you are faced with grains in the zigzag squares. Zoom S, 4-axis optical image stabilizer and laser focusing, which we think you’ll love video capability, can also make 4K video recording. 1080p has 60 frames of video recording; At 4K, you can get 24 frames.

The front camera also has a 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor. 1080p video recording with f / 2.0 aperture is also offered in this camera. No matter which camera you use in Zoom S, you have a lot of options. We recommend using the manual mode to force the phone’s camera capabilities. However, even if you do not do very well in this regard, many modes will help you. These include HDR Pro, Super Resolution, Night, Field Depth, GIF Animation, Fast and Slow Capture modes. Zoom S has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor. We saw and examined Moto Z Play, Lenovo P2, and even ZenFone 3 in the seat, which is categorized as middle to upper segment. In that sense, we can say that the capacity of the phone as performance is roughly equivalent to these phones. We say that, because the price of the phone and the technical staff it offers and its reflection on performance, obviously puts the phone into a very controversial spot.
